This 1959 stunning framed print of Napier, Motu-o-Kura Bluff Hill with Napier City and Marine Parade below showcases the thriving art deco city and its landscape. The aerial photograph was captured by Whites Aviation, who were well known for their aerial photography and aviation history publications.

Fun fact. Motu-o-Kura Bluff Hill was originally an island surrounded almost entirely by water, with just two spits connecting it to the mainland. However, the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake dramatically changed the landscape. The earthquake uplifted the area, causing the sea to recede and permanently connecting Scinde Island to the mainland.
